H.E.R.O.

Trevor Claiborn
FSE: What is H.E.R.O. and why does it exist?
HERO is an acronym for Hometown Environmental Restoration Operation
FSE: Can you tell us exactly what H.E.R.O does?
The main focus of HERO is restoring our neglected communities as far as basic lawn care, property maintenance on vacant properties, garage and shed clean up, and basic handy work for the elderly disabled and in some cases, financially strapped people right now during this current economic situation.
FSE: What is your main goal?
We actually have a few long term goals, but mainly we want to start an ongoing cleanup and urban restoration operation around Central Kentucky as well as eventually other regions. This is also an effort to help make a few extra bucks and the same time serve our neighbors and others around our communities. Obviously, no business can operate without money but our main focus is to provide a much needed service and to attempt to involve those who want to be useful in a positive way around the community and ultimately make it cool to serve in an ever more self serving society.
FSE: Are there any fees associated with H.E.R.O. ?
As I said, most importantly, we want to provide much needed services around our community and obviously money is the engine that keeps the machine going, however, we will not turn down someone who needs our service. We have regular rates for the lawn care part of the company, but as far as the other services, we work with each person individually according to what they can afford. In some cases we will provide a free service, depending on the urgency.
FSE: Is H.E.R.O. a locally owned business and how long has it existed?
Yes, we are locally owned, licensed and registered as of September 2009.
FSE: Does it matter how big or small the job is?
Being a small company, we do have limitations as far as job sizes, but thus far, we haven’t ran into any jobs that we couldn’t handle. We are cautious not to take on more than we can effectively handle, lol.
FSE: Do you have any special projects coming up?
We are currently working with a few churches in the community to celebrate a program to address the needs of some of the elder members in the congregations and finding a way to involve the youth. Other than that, it’s the same ol dirty work..
FSE: How often do you work on H.E.R.O. projects and is there a limit?
We do most of our work during the spring, summer and fall. We do however do some projects such as garage and shed clean up, debris removal, etc. in the colder months. As I said, we only take on what we can effectively handle at the moment.
FSE: If someone wanted to help assist H.E.R.O. on a major concentrated effort, are volunteers welcome to lend a hand? If so, what is required?
Of course, once again, we are a new fledging company and there is power in numbers. As time progresses, we hope to expand this opportunity to many people who want to volunteer. The most important requirement for a volunteer is drive and desire for doing a quality job. We hope to maintain a positive image for the company and anyone who may interact with us, be it through volunteering or needing service. POSITIVITY, PERSISTANCE, PATIENCE AND PROFESSIONALISM.
FSE: How can people get in contact with H.E.R.O.?
They can contact my partner

How do you describe your music to people?
As we do many styles from Jazz, Gospel, R&B, Motown and Blues to name a few, we
truly believe that our music is a salad bowl of sounds pleasing to many ears. In addition, we
strive to maintain lyrics that are positive and express one of the greatest emotions. That
emotion being “Love”
FSE: How did the band get started and how did you all link up ?
We accidently formed because another band couldn’t do a gig. Stephen, Vera, Letetia and
Nolan got together and did the job with no rehearsal. Suddenly, The Positive Movement was
born. Next, Letitia’s daughter was in a fashion show and while Letitia was watching the
show, she met James’ wife. During the conversation, his wife mentioned her husband played
the bass. Numbers were exchanged and behold, we got a call from James and was joined
with our new bass player. Later, Stephen met Wayne at church, heard him play, got his
phone number and later gave him a call. About a week or so later, Wayne called and wanted
to join the group. He came to a rehearsal and has been playing better than Kenny G. ever
since! As for Donnie (DJ) Rice, Stephen ran into him at Wal-Mart, had a musical
conversation, and Donnie showed up at another gig to check out Stephen’s skills. On a
break, Vera joined their company, spoke with DJ, and the story ended with him becoming
our very own B.B . King .
How often do you perform and who books the shows?
THE POSITIVE MOVEMENT performs at least a couple of weekends per month, and
everyone in the band books shows as well as using our booking agents.FSE: Who are your musical influences?
Stevie Wonder, Jeff Lober, Earth, Wind & Fire, George Duke, Patty Austin, Rachael Ferrell,
The Clark Sisters and Jill Scott just to name a few. Each member of the band has many
influences from Gospel, R&B and even Motown.
FSE: How would you define the word "SUCCESS"?
Success is simply being happy and comfortable in our lives in whatever we are doing, whoever
we let in the front row of our lives and especially serving the creator and loving our families.
FSE: How do you rate your live performance ability?
Each member of THE POSITIVE MOVEMENT, is seasoned and professional in their stage
ability. Of course, there is always room for improvement and we are all open to change, to
keeping up with what’s going on in the market if it honorable and tasteful, and to putting forth
100% to being the best at each of our gifts.
FSE: What image do you think your music conveys?
Of course, a positive image, up to date and transitional to all cultures and preferences of many styles of music. FSE: Is there anything else that you would like to add before we wrap things up? Sending shouts out to Valtza and Oliver, Beverly, Jonna Paula, Marla, Monica and our savoir JESUS CHRIST and the CREATOR above. ______________________________________________________________________________
